Meeting with Patricia Widmer

The soul of Cotignac in his hands

The soul of Cotignac in his hands

There are places that seem to slow down time. Cotignac, with its sun-drenched streets and majestic tuff cliff, is one of them. It is here, in the heart of this charming village in the Var region, that we open the door to a workshop where clay comes to life. Welcome to Patricia Widmer, ceramicist. An encounter that reminds us why we created Beaumas: for this obviousness of materials, this extra soul that transforms a simple house into a real living space.

Softness as a signature

Stepping into Patricia’s workshop is like entering a bubble of poetry. Soft light caresses the shelves lined with porcelain pieces of an almost translucent whiteness. Bowls, cups, vases… each object seems to vibrate with an inner life. “I like the idea that my creations bring softness to everyday life,” she tells us with a smile. Originally from Switzerland, Patricia set up her potter’s wheel in Provence, inspired by the region’s clarity and art of living. Her work reflects this: luminous and sincere. She does not seek industrial perfection, but the vibration of the hand. Each piece is unique, bearing the subtle traces of the artisan’s touch, a controlled imperfection that is its greatest asset. It’s a philosophy that is dear to us: revealing the unique character of a place, rather than seeking to smooth out its rough edges.

A piece of Provence all to yourself

Owning a piece of Patricia Widmer’s ceramics is not simply acquiring an object. It is inviting a fragment of the soul of Cotignac into your home. It is the simple pleasure of a morning coffee in a cup that fits perfectly in the palm of your hand, the beauty of a bouquet of wildflowers in a vase with clean lines.
These objects, by their mere presence, tell a story, a story of craftsmanship and sensitivity. They enrich an interior and help to create that precious “spirit of place.”
As we leave the workshop, we are convinced that the beauty of Provence is not only found in its landscapes, but also in the hands of those who continue to shape it with passion. And it is this beauty that we are committed to helping you discover.
